1st Old Malden (St John the Baptist) Scout Troop.
Working for Better Scouting for More Young People in Old Malden.
We provide scouting activities for children and young people aged 10 - 15 across Old Malden and New Malden. We run an exciting weekly programme with the focus on outdooor adventure, whilst providing the opportunity to develop friendships and understanding of others in a fun, exciting and safe way. We take part in events such as fun days, camps, competitions.
Our own headquarters, the Old Malden Scout Centre, is situated behind St. John’s Church Hall in Malden Road and was built with the help of National Lottery funding in 2002. It has been the catalyst in us being able to improve our facilities, equipment and activities ever since.
The Group is sponsored by St. John’s Church, so is very much an integral part of the life and outreach of the parish. It has a membership of over 100; Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. In 2005, it was awarded the “County Commissioner’s Standard”; a local Scouting kitemark which recognises good quality, organised Scouting.
